What Does 'Being Happy' Means?

What does it mean to be happy?  Is the happiness you are feeling now true or is it just pretend?  How does one become truly happy?  These questions should be asked by every person trying to find happiness in life.  Happiness is false when one’s happiness causes others to be unhappy.  Happiness is a right and so whatever one’s status in life is, they can achieve it.  Some people believe that they do not deserve to be happy and so they refuse anything that will let them be.  They shy away from people who love them and make them happy and accept it as a fact that they will forever remain unhappy as it is their destiny.  If you are one of these people, wake up! You can be happy by remember to follow the steps below.

  1. Know what makes you happy.  Each person has a unique need to achieving happiness.  What makes one happy can be different from others.  Look at your individuality and stop comparing your needs of happiness to that of other people.
  2. Make plans as to how you can attain goals that will give you happiness.  Once you do this, your mood will change as you are slowly able to achieve your goals.  You will feel much better within.  This is because you are able to get the things that you value.
  3. Start being around happy people.  Usually when people around you are positive, you will possess the same energies they emit.  On the other hand, if people around you are always negative, you too will think negatively about yourself and about others.
  4. If trials come your way, try to find a way to solve it first before saying it cannot be solved.  People who are genuinely happy do not let problems change their mood since they know that anything is possible if they just believe in themselves and they can reverse the situation to their liking.
  5. Reflect about your happiness and what gives you this feeling for a few moments each day.  This will allow you to focus on the great things going on in your life and lead you to more happiness in life.
  6. Reward yourself and pamper your body, mind, and soul especially after a stressful day or after you are able to accomplish your goals.  This will refresh and help you replenish your lost energies.
  7. Learn to laugh.  They say that laughter is the best medicine and this is true.  When you are able to find humor in even the most stressful situations, you gain more happiness.
  8. Stay healthy and fit.  If you are unhealthy or overweight, you get conscious about your body and you become less confident.  Exercising, based on research, releases the endorphins or the happy hormones which makes you feel more happy.
  9. Lastly, it should be instilled in one’s mind that every person deserves to be happy no matter what they have done.

Try to give the tips above a try by applying them into your life.  It is easy to be happy as long as you just give yourself a chance.  When you become a happy person, you are able to overcome obstacles and challenges in your life easily.
